Meta’s Facebook and Instagram Violate Own Policies with AI Nudify Ads
Meta’s platforms have displayed thousands of ads for AI nudify applications, breaching their own prohibitions against non-consensual sexual content.
Despite established advertising bans, over 87,000 ads linked to Joy Timeline HK Limited’s CrushAI app were found on Facebook and Instagram, targeting users primarily in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and Germany. Investigations revealed that at least 170 business accounts promoted these ads, which exploit AI to create non-consensual nude images. In response, Meta filed a lawsuit against the company in June 2025, having previously taken enforcement actions since 2023, while also initiating a collaborative effort with other tech firms to combat such violations.
