Ten Arrests in Märkisches Viertel: Youths Clash with Berlin Police on Sunday Evening

Berlin police arrested ten youths, including a 14-year-old, after Molotov cocktails and stones were thrown during disturbances in Märkisches Viertel on Sunday evening.

On Sunday evening, a group of approximately 120 youths caused disturbances in Märkisches Viertel, a neighborhood in northern Berlin. Members of the group threw Molotov cocktails and stones at police officers, prompting a significant police response. According to authorities, the incendiary devices ignited but did not result in any injuries. Ten individuals were arrested, including the suspected perpetrators of the attacks, one of whom is reportedly 14 years old.

The incidents occurred across several streets in the area, including Senftenberger Ring, Wilhelmsruher Damm, Märkische Zeile, Markendorfer Straße, Königshorster Straße, and Schorfheidestraße. Police deployed 80 officers to manage the situation, and by late evening, the situation had largely calmed down. Authorities reported that only small groups of youths remained in the area. This marks the second consecutive night of unrest in Märkisches Viertel, following similar disturbances on Halloween night.

During the Halloween incidents, youths on Wilhelmsruher Damm threw pyrotechnics and eggs at police officers, leading to the temporary suspension of bus services in the area. Later in the evening, plastic bottles filled with gasoline and pyrotechnics were also hurled at law enforcement. Among those detained during the Halloween unrest was a 13-year-old child. Police continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further disruptions.
