A 43-year-old driver in Bad Kreuznach was found to have tested positive for cannabis and opiates during a police traffic control operation on Sunday evening.
On Sunday evening, police officers in Bad Kreuznach conducted a traffic control operation on Richard-Wagner-Straße. At approximately 7:00 PM, a 43-year-old man driving an Opel Corsa was stopped for inspection. Officers immediately detected a strong smell of cannabis emanating from the vehicle, raising suspicions about the driver’s condition.
During the interaction, the driver exhibited difficulty following the conversation and required multiple prompts to present his identification. Voluntary tests to assess his fitness to drive revealed further irregularities. A urine test conducted on-site returned positive results for both cannabis and opiates, confirming the officers’ initial suspicions.
The driver was subsequently taken to the police station, where a blood sample was collected for further analysis. The results of the blood test are still pending. Authorities prohibited the driver from continuing his journey, and his vehicle keys were handed over to his son. A criminal investigation has been initiated against the individual.
