An elderly woman in Nuremberg was robbed by a man posing as a scissors grinder after losing consciousness in her apartment.
On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at approximately 10:00 AM, an 88-year-old woman living in a multi-family building on Kölner Street in northern Nuremberg was approached by a man claiming to be a scissors grinder. The man rang her doorbell and entered her fifth-floor apartment. Shortly after his arrival, the woman lost consciousness in her kitchen, likely due to circulatory issues, and fell to the floor.
The man reportedly assisted the woman, helping her up and placing her in her bed before leaving the apartment. When the woman recovered the following day, she discovered that several hundred euros in cash had been stolen from a cabinet in her home. She promptly contacted the police to report the theft.
The suspect is described as approximately 50 years old, around 175 cm tall, with a stocky build and dark blonde hair. He spoke fluent German without any noticeable accent. The Nuremberg Criminal Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in identifying the suspect. Witnesses are urged to contact the police at +49 (0)911 2112-3333.
