Suspect Indicted in Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage Case
German prosecutors have charged a Ukrainian national over the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Germany has formally indicted Serhij K., a Ukrainian national, for his alleged role in the September 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The incident, which involved high-powered explosives and caused significant damage to the pipelines, drew global attention and sparked widespread speculation about its perpetrators.
According to investigators, Serhij K., an alleged officer in a Ukrainian special forces unit, coordinated the operation involving six accomplices aboard the yacht ‘Andromeda.’ The group reportedly planted timed explosives at depths of up to 80 meters near Bornholm. German authorities suspect the operation was carried out on behalf of a foreign state, but maintain jurisdiction due to the impact on German territory. Serhij K. remains in custody following his extradition to Germany in November 2022.
