Real Madrid has made significant strides in the 2026 summer transfer window, acquiring up to six new players to bolster their squad. The club’s recent acquisitions include three defenders—Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, and Ibrahima Konate—along with two forwards, Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande, and midfielder Bernardo Silva. Despite these additions, concerns linger regarding the midfield, which was identified as a weakness in the previous season. While Silva’s quality is unquestionable, the lack of a high-profile midfielder has raised eyebrows among fans and analysts alike. Head coach Jose Mourinho has indicated that the squad is currently complete, suggesting that no further major signings are anticipated for the immediate future. However, the club is reportedly on the verge of securing a promising talent for the long term. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid has reached an agreement to sign Sergio Martinez, a 19-year-old midfielder from Racing Club, for a fee of €3 million. Romano’s announcement, characterized by his signature ‘here we go’ phrase, has generated excitement among supporters. Contrary to earlier speculation, Martinez will not remain on loan at Racing Club following the transfer; instead, he will join Real Madrid immediately. The young midfielder has turned down lucrative offers from clubs in England, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, opting instead to pursue his career at one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs. He is set to sign a three-year contract with Los Blancos, with hopes that this decision will facilitate his development and pave the way for a regular spot in the first team.
