Qantas’ Project Sunrise Test Flight Approaches World Record

Qantas’ new Airbus A350-1000ULR test flight from Toulouse to Melbourne has become the second most tracked flight in history, nearing a world record for non-stop travel.

The aircraft, designed for direct flights between London and Sydney starting in October 2027, completed a 10,500-mile journey in 19 hours and 12 minutes, attracting nearly 3 million views on Flightradar24. As part of its innovative approach to mitigate jet lag, Qantas collaborated with University of Sydney sleep experts to enhance the in-flight experience, including strategic meal timing and circadian lighting. The aircraft is currently en route back to Europe, testing one of the longest commercial routes available.
