Police Investigate Two Hit-and-Run Incidents in Mettmann District

Two separate hit-and-run incidents involving parked vehicles were reported in Erkrath and Langenfeld, prompting police investigations.

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, a green Toyota Aygo X was damaged while parked on Maximilian-Weyhe-Straße in Erkrath. The vehicle’s owner had parked the car at approximately 8:00 AM near house number 2 and returned at 3:15 PM to find fresh damage to the front bumper. The responsible party left the scene without providing their information or facilitating damage compensation. Police estimate the damage to be in the mid-three-digit range and are seeking information from the public. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the Erkrath police at 02104 9480-6450.

In a separate incident on Saturday, October 10, 2026, a gray Mercedes A-Class was damaged on the school parking lot at Fahlerweg in Langenfeld. The vehicle was parked at 12:15 PM, and the owner discovered damage to the left side of the car upon returning at 12:30 PM. Similar to the Erkrath case, the responsible party fled the scene without addressing the damage. Police estimate the repair costs to be in the mid-three-digit range and are requesting witnesses to contact the Langenfeld police at 02173 288-6310.

The Mettmann District Police have emphasized that hit-and-run incidents are criminal offenses and urged the public to report such cases promptly. They advise vehicle owners to leave their cars unchanged at the accident site, avoid altering or removing traces of the incident, and document the situation with photographs if necessary. For further inquiries, the police press office can be reached at 02104 982-1010 or via email at pressestelle.mettmann@polizei.nrw.de.
