Poland Remembers WWII: ‘The Fate of Ukraine is Our Fate’

On the 87th anniversary of WWII, Polish leaders warn against repeating past mistakes as Russia threatens Europe.

At a memorial event in Gdańsk, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized the importance of learning from history, particularly the lessons of 1939 when Poland was abandoned by its allies. He condemned the appeasement of aggressors and called for solidarity with Ukraine, asserting that the fate of Ukraine is intertwined with Poland’s future.

Tusk criticized the complacency of Western leaders, urging them to recognize the ongoing threat posed by Russia. He highlighted recent sabotage incidents across Europe, linking them to Russian security services, and warned that neglecting Ukraine could lead to further aggression against Poland.
