Left Party Surges Ahead in Berlin Polls, CDU Falls to Fourth
The Left Party leads Berlin’s latest election poll, while the CDU, led by Mayor Kai Wegner, drops to fourth place.
With just over two months until Berlin’s parliamentary elections on September 20, the latest poll by Infratest Dimap for RBB24-Abendschau and RBB 88.8 shows a significant shift in voter sentiment. The Left Party now leads with 20%, followed by the Greens at 19%, and the far-right AfD at 18%. The CDU, which currently holds the mayor’s office under Kai Wegner, has fallen to fourth place with 17%.
The poll highlights a dramatic decline for the CDU, which secured 28% in the 2023 repeat election. The SPD trails with 13%, while the FDP and BSW are projected to miss the 5% threshold needed to enter parliament, each polling at 3%. Additionally, 78% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the current Berlin Senate’s performance. The survey, conducted between June 25 and June 29, included 1,165 participants and reflects growing uncertainty in the political landscape.
