Flood Disaster in Himalayas: Hundreds of Workers Trapped in Hydropower Plants

Rescue efforts intensify in Nepal as hundreds of workers remain trapped in hydropower tunnels following a devastating flood.

The death toll has surpassed 950, with 639 workers believed to be trapped in tunnels of eleven hydropower plants in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. Rescue teams, supported by experts from China and India, are racing against time to reach them.

The flood, triggered by a glacier collapse due to global warming, has left nearly 5,000 people missing. Authorities warn of further dangers from newly formed lakes and landslides, complicating rescue operations.
