CJEU Affirms Pluralism as Core EU Value
The Court of Justice of the European Union has recognized the pluralistic nature of European society in a landmark ruling.
In its April 21, 2026 decision (Case C-769/22), the CJEU emphasized that pluralism is essential for social integration and cooperation among diverse groups within the EU.
The ruling challenges the notion of a singular ‘good society,’ advocating instead for the coexistence of multiple, distinct value systems, aligning with Isaiah Berlin’s philosophy of value pluralism.
