Following the emergence of a photograph depicting CDU faction leader Guido Heuer alongside AfD’s Ulrich Siegmund, both the Greens and the Left have condemned the CDU for failing to maintain a credible distance from the far-right party. Clara Bünger, a prominent Leftist politician, labeled Heuer’s previous claims of political confrontation with Siegmund as a ‘lie,’ questioning the CDU’s commitment to democratic values. Greens leader Felix Banaszak echoed these sentiments, criticizing the CDU’s apparent normalization of relations with the AfD and expressing doubts about the party’s future stance against right-wing extremism.
