Angela Merkel’s Portrait Unveiled for Chancellor’s Gallery
Angela Merkel’s official portrait, painted by young artist Jérémie Queyras, has been revealed and will be displayed at the Bode Museum until October 4.
The portrait features Merkel in a blue blazer against a golden background, reflecting her 16 years of leadership. Queyras, a 28-year-old artist from Freiburg, was chosen for his unconventional approach, despite speculation about more established artists.
Merkel emphasized the importance of the painting process over the final artwork, engaging in meaningful discussions with Queyras during their sessions. The portrait will be displayed publicly before it moves to the Chancellor’s Gallery.
