Cyprus Approves Natural Gas Exports from Cronos Field, First Shipments Expected by 2028

Cyprus transitions from exploration to production of natural gas with Eni’s final investment decision for the Cronos field, targeting first exports in 2028.

The Italian energy company Eni, in partnership with France’s TotalEnergies, has announced a significant investment to develop the Cronos natural gas field in Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone, with production expected to commence in 2028. This project, which holds over three trillion cubic feet of natural gas, will utilize existing infrastructure in Egypt for processing and export, marking a pivotal step for Cyprus as it aims to establish itself as a natural gas producer and exporter in the Eastern Mediterranean.
