Ukrainian Businessman Injured in Monaco Parcel Bomb Explosion; Arrest Warrant Issued for Suspect
A Ukrainian businessman and two others were severely injured in a parcel bomb explosion in Monaco, prompting authorities to issue an arrest warrant and involve Interpol in the investigation.
A parcel bomb explosion in Monaco on Monday evening left a Ukrainian businessman, his partner, and their 13-year-old son severely injured. The incident occurred in the entrance hall of a small residential building, where the explosive device detonated shortly after being left by an unidentified individual. Monaco’s public prosecutor has identified a suspect and issued an arrest warrant, with Interpol now involved in the search for the individual.
According to French media reports, the suspect is believed to be a woman who may have disguised herself as a man. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the individual wearing a black fisherman’s hat. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into attempted murder and other related charges. The injured businessman has been identified as 58-year-old Vadym Yermolayev, a former Ukrainian citizen and multimillionaire known for his real estate ventures in Dnipro, Ukraine.
Yermolayev, once ranked among the 100 wealthiest individuals in Ukraine, had relocated to Monaco as part of a group of Ukrainian businessmen and former oligarchs referred to as the ‘Monaco Battalion.’ He has faced sanctions in Ukraine since 2023 due to his business activities in Crimea, which is under Russian annexation. The explosion has drawn significant attention, with authorities working to uncover the motive and apprehend the suspect involved in this violent attack.
