Bomb Blast in Damascus Café Kills Five, Injures Sixteen

A bomb explosion in a busy Damascus café has left five dead and sixteen injured, with no group claiming responsibility.

At least five people were killed and sixteen others injured in a bomb explosion at a bustling café near the Justice Palace in central Damascus, Syria. The state news agency SANA, citing emergency services, reported the incident on Thursday. The explosive device was reportedly planted inside the café, according to state television. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

This marks another violent incident in the Syrian capital following the end of the 14-year civil war in 2024, which saw the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad and the rise of current President Ahmed al-Scharaa. The last major attack occurred on May 19, when a car bomb near the Ministry of Defense killed a Syrian soldier and injured 18 others.
