Germany urgently needs skilled workers, says Minister Wadephul, addressing concerns about xenophobia during his visit to São Paulo.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul visited São Paulo to promote Germany as a destination for skilled workers, emphasizing the country’s need for talent and addressing fears of xenophobia among young South Americans. Speaking at the Goethe-Institute, Wadephul reassured students that integration in Germany is largely successful despite challenges such as migrant-related crime and resistance from some Germans.
Wadephul highlighted the importance of openness and inclusivity, stating that anyone willing to integrate, learn the language, and contribute to society should be welcomed. He also praised the role of German schools and Goethe-Institutes in Brazil, which prepare thousands of students annually for opportunities in Germany. With over 10,000 Brazilian students attending German schools, Wadephul stressed the critical need for skilled workers and Germany’s commitment to fostering international talent.
