Neuralink’s Former President Launches PRIMA, a Vision-Restoring Implant in Europe
Science Corp, founded by ex-Neuralink president Max Hodak, has introduced PRIMA, the first treatment proven to restore functional vision in blind patients, now available in Europe.
PRIMA, which has received CE mark approval, utilizes a subretinal implant and specialized glasses to convert near-infrared light into electrical signals for the brain, enabling vision restoration. Clinical trials demonstrated a mean improvement of 25.5 letters on standard eye charts, with 84% of participants regaining reading abilities. As the first commercial product from a US brain-implant company, PRIMA aims to enhance patient access through reimbursement plans across Europe, with plans for FDA approval in the US.
