In response to an inquiry from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, authorities revealed that several dozen individuals are classified as ‘Gefährder’ (threats) due to their potential for violence linked to Islamist ideologies. The Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution estimates approximately 2,600 supporters of Islamist ideologies in the city, with 980 categorized as ‘violently oriented.’ These findings highlight ongoing concerns regarding the threat posed by Islamist extremism, particularly in relation to public gatherings, which are considered vulnerable targets for potential attacks.
