Rising Number of Pensioners in Germany Relying on Social Assistance, Women Most Affected
Over 770,000 pensioners in Germany are now dependent on social assistance, with a significant increase in Eastern regions.
The number of pensioners receiving social assistance has surged by nearly 30,000 in the past year, with 21,490 affected in Saxony alone, marking a rise of 1,600 since last year.
Experts warn that the planned pension reforms will disproportionately impact Eastern Germans, particularly women, who face severe financial challenges despite decades of work.
