Angela Merkel’s Portrait to Join Chancellor Gallery
Former Chancellor Angela Merkel will soon be immortalized in a portrait for the Chancellor’s Gallery, reflecting on her legacy.
The portrait, painted by 28-year-old artist Jérémy Queyras, will be unveiled at the Bode Museum in Berlin on Tuesday, before moving to the Chancellor’s Gallery in October.
Merkel, who served as Chancellor until 2021, expressed mixed feelings about becoming part of history, stating, ‘It’s funny when you slowly become history.’
