Germany’s National Oil Reserves Nearly Depleted Following Release
The German Federal Ministry of Economics reported that the released national oil reserves are nearly exhausted, following a strategic release of approximately 600,000 tons of crude oil, diesel, and jet fuel.
This release, initiated nearly three months ago in response to the energy crisis triggered by the Iran conflict, aimed to mitigate rising energy prices and was in alignment with recommendations from the International Energy Agency. While the released quantity represents a small fraction of Germany’s total reserves, which amount to nearly 20 million tons, the Ministry emphasized that there is currently no energy shortage in the country, and a significant portion of strategic reserves remains available. The decision regarding any further releases of reserves has not yet been determined.
