German Cabinet Approves Civil Protection Expansion and Driver’s License Reforms
The German federal cabinet has approved measures to enhance civil protection and reform the driver’s license acquisition process.
Public shelters, including bunkers, tunnels, and underground garages, will be cataloged and integrated into the federal warning app, NINA. Additionally, a new coordination office is to be established to facilitate collaboration with the Bundeswehr in defense scenarios. The cabinet also initiated reforms aimed at reducing the average cost of obtaining a car driver’s license, currently at approximately €3,400, through digitalization, bureaucratic reduction, and increased transparency.
